When the engineers of car companies get bored, they do crazy stuff like this. Meet the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R. Basically, it\'s a Yaris Hybrid that has been given way more power than the car was ever meant to handle.
How much power?
Well, propelling the front wheels is a 300hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine said to be specifically developed by Toyota Motorsport GmbH. At the rear, meanwhile, is a 60hp electric motor, just like on the standard Yaris Hybrid.
All things combined, the hybrid system nets a total output of 420hp. All that muscle for a subcompact hatchback, in case you need reminding.
Like the other automakers, Toyota is using the Frankfurt Motor Show to unveil the car this month.
Oh, and in case you\'re wondering, those are 18-inch TRD wheels shod in 225/40 R18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. This car may be cute, but it will thrash bigger cars without breaking a sweat.
