The Tokyo Motor Show is happening at the end of this month, which means lots of new reveals and concepts to salivate over. Toyota is throwing its hat into the mix with a cool new sports car concept as one of its frontrunners.
Behold, the mouth-watering GR HV Sports concept, which promises sports car fun and the best of environment-friendliness. The design is patterned after Toyota Gazoo Racing's TS050 Hybrid endurance car, while the targa top harks back to the Toyota Sports 800 and the Supra. We reckon there's a fair bit of the 86 in there as well. Other design elements include LED headlights, aluminum wheels, and a rear diffuser. And yes, this matte black beauty is rear-wheel drive.
The concept is powered by Toyota Hybrid System-Racing, infused with hybrid tech refined by the aforementioned race car. While it's an automatic, you can switch to manual mode with the push of a button and choose one of six gears through the H-pattern shifter in the middle—just like a regular manual. The hybrid battery is mounted near the center of the car for better weight distribution. The ignition switch, meanwhile, is hidden under a little tab on the shift knob. Ejector seat? You're joking!
It's just a concept right now, but we want this on the production line ASAP. Do you agree?
