Believe it or not, the Toyota GR Yaris turns 4 in 2024. With that, the all-wheel drive hot hatchback might be due for a bit of a facelift this year. So far, it’s still unconfirmed but reports from Japanese magazines MagX and BestCar (via various sources such as Autoevolution and AutoBlog) have stirred the rumor mill.
Per the publications, the updated GR Yaris is set to be revealed this month. Not only that, the magazine claims that it will be revealed at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon.

What to expect? Toyota has not confirmed anything just yet. But should the new GR Yaris be revealed, we can expect a few styling and aerodynamic updates like the GR Corolla. However, MagX has another bold prediction for the car.
It is said that the 2024 model year will get a horsepower increase. It is claimed that power is now closer to the 300hp mark, a significant increase from the current output. For reference, the GR Yaris’ power ratings stand at 286hp and 370Nm of torque.

Another fearless forecast is that the automatic version of the hot hatch will appear this year. It’s no secret that Toyota has been developing a self shifter for the GR Yaris. The company has been developing what they call is a Direct Automatic Transmission for the car and was even tested out during competition in the Super Taikyu series.
So, how will these claims be substantiated? Toyota will be holding a press conference on January 12, 2024. Coincidentally, that date also falls on the first day of Tokyo Auto Salon 2024. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if the new Toyota GR Yaris makes a surprise appearance at the show.
