“Built on Volvo’s legacy of safety leadership, backed by over 50 years of real-world accident research, these vehicles are designed not just to respond to danger, but to prevent it, offering families unparalleled confidence and peace of mind,” states Hariphil Asia Resources (HARI), the official Philippine distributor of Volvo.

The ES90, which takes the S90 range into the electric era, is Volvo’s first sedan to use its 800V EV architecture. The official press doesn’t go into the tech specs, only saying that the vehicle “enables faster DC charging” and has “a WLTP range of up to 700km.” Globally, the vehicle is available in single- and twin-motor configurations.
As expected, the executive sedan is equipped with various cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors feeding information to the Next-Generation Pilot Assist system of advanced driver aids. Its features include lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and navigational support. The ‘front shield’ that replaces the traditional grille houses some of the sensors, cameras, and radars, with the lower part also boasting an automatic shutter to help cool the high-voltage battery.

The ES90’s fastback silhouette has a drag coefficient of just 0.25, with flush door handles and flat underchassis also improving the aerodynamics. The brand showcases its Scandinavian roots through the clean, elegant, and streamlined design that carries over into the cabin, which provides generous space and a luxurious environment for all occupants.

The seven-seat EX90, meanwhile, offers the same level of luxury, safety, and long-range electric mobility to families. The interior is equipped with individually adjustable seats in the first two rows, as well as “genuine third-row usability” thanks to cinema-style seating and efficient use of the flat-floor architecture. Four-zone climate control ensures the comfort of all seven occupants, and the tastefully decorated cabin comes with ample storage solutions and convenience features to make long drives more enjoyable.
The EX90 Ultra for the Philippine market gets a twin-motor system that produces 402hp (300kW) and 770Nm of torque, delivered to the wheels by an all-wheel drivetrain. The quoted 0-100kph time is 5.9sec, with top speed electronically limited to 180kph. Volvo claims the 111kWh battery has a WLTP range of up to 624km, and can be fast-charged at a rate of up to 350kW to get from 10% to 80% capacity in around 22 minutes.

The Volvo Safe Space Technology makes use of eight high-resolution cameras, five radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and a Driver Understanding System that simulates a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s immediate surroundings. Even the driver’s state is continually monitored to anticipate potential risks, and if that’s not enough, the system is also supported by satellite data to build “a comprehensive understanding” of the real-time environment and driving conditions. Over-the-air updates, Volvo says, will future-proof not just the car’s safety features, but also its infotainment system and performance.
“With the launch of the Volvo ES90 Ultra BEV and EX90 Ultra BEV, we are introducing not only Volvo’s next-generation electric vehicles in the Philippines, but also the principle of shaping a future that values safety and responsibility,” said Ms. Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI’s vice chairman, president, and CEO. “These models reflect our commitment to delivering a driving experience that is not only technologically advanced, but also instinctively crafted for comfort, confidence, and enduring value.
Every detail, from the sophisticated design to the intuitive digital innovations, is engineered to elevate the journey, setting a new benchmark for refined electric mobility with the elegance of Scandinavian design for both discerning executives and modern families, for today and tomorrow.”
