A few months ago, we got our first real glimpse of the facelifted Volvo XC90 at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show. We figured this launch in the region signaled the updated SUV’s imminent arrival in the Philippines, and we were right.
Volvo Philippines has just unveiled the new XC90 PHEV at a back-to-back launch. The other vehicle? The new XC60 PHEV. That makes two new electrified models added to Volvo’s local stable.
Let’s start with the XC90. On the outside, it hasn’t drastically changed outside of its new face. That said, it does look cleaner and classier with smoother arches on the front end. The headlights still sport a familiar light signature, albeit with a sleeker profile. Overall, it’s a more elegant-looking front fascia.

The XC90 PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbopetrol paired with an electric motor that together put out 462hp and 709Nm of torque—a significant 149hp and 249Nm boost from the XC90 B6 AWD. With this electrified powertrain, the XC90 PHEV can go from 0-100kph in 5.4sec. Its 18.8kWh battery promises an estimated electric range of 77km, and AC charging takes up to 2.5-3 hours to complete.
As for the XC60 PHEV, this smaller sibling shares styling with the XC90, with those T-shaped DRLs highlighting the headlamps up front. It also has this large, trapezoidal grille with intricately designed diagonal chrome slats. This is matched with more accents on the bumper and the two-tone alloy wheels underneath. At the rear, it looks a lot like the XC90 PHEV with the patented Volvo-style taillights adorning the tailgate.
As far as what’s under the hood goes, the XC60 PHEV also combines a 2.0-liter turbopetrol paired with an electric motor similar to the XC90 PHEV. The setup also puts out 709Nm of torque in the XC60, albeit with a little less horsepower at 455. But despite that, the XC60 PHEV does a faster 0-100kph sprint in 4.9sec. Estimated electric range is listed at 80km, and AC charging also takes up to 2.5-3 hours to complete.
As for the prices, the XC90 PHEV stickers for P5.45 million, while the Volvo XC60 PHEV goes for P4.55 million. You can check out the prices again below, and see more photos afterwards. What do you guys think of these new plug-in hybrids?
