When you hear that a car is being sold for less than P400,000, your automatic assumption is that the unit is secondhand, right? Or Chinese, if you\'re being honest. Now, if someone told you that a brand-new Japanese car was being sold for under P400,000, wouldn\'t you dismiss it as a joke at best or a scam at worst?
But there is, in fact, a mini Japanese hatchback available in our market for just P388,000--and it\'s brand-new!
The car is the Alto 800 from Suzuki Philippines. Quietly launched earlier this year, the Alto 800 offers a standard (which is to say spartan) variant that should give secondhand but bigger cars stiff competition. This small hatchback is made in India and powered by an 800cc engine, which Suzuki claims to be capable of delivering an average of 22.74km per liter of fuel.
\"The launch of the Alto 800 in the Philippines underscores our commitment to bring fuel-efficient, comfortable and affordable cars to this market,\" says Suzuki Philippines president Hiroshi Suzuki. \"We look forward to introducing more of Suzuki\'s \'Way of Life\' brand philosophy to Filipinos by pioneering great-value automobiles like the Alto 800.\"
So...this or a secondhand (and fully equipped) Honda Jazz?
