Ford Group Philippines set its best ever sales record in 2010 with carmaker selling 6,603 vehicles. The American car company also posted its second-highest ever monthly performance as it sold 783 vehicles in December, a 55-percent increase from November's sales.
Sales of the all-new Fiesta helped boost Ford Philippines' December figures as 342 units moved out of showrooms, making it the best-selling hatchback in the country for that month while simultaneously registering the highest-ever monthly total of any Ford nameplate sold in the Philippines.
"The launch of Fiesta has really given a significant boost to our sales--and as the best-selling hatchback in the industry in December, it's clear that this class-leading vehicle holds significant appeal to a wide range of Filipino consumers,” said Randy Krieger, president of Ford Philippines.
Ford Philippines' record year was supported by the continuous demand from the carmaker’s local lineup of vehicles. For the seventh straight year, the Ford Everest remains as Ford Philippines' top sales performer with 2,204 units being purchased in 2010. The Ford Escape also delivered a strong 2010 as its year-to-date sales climbed up by 10 percent to 1,556 units.
"We are absolutely delighted to have ended the year on such a high note, which helped deliver record full-year sales for the Ford brand in 2010, reaffirming that our Filipino consumers continue to appreciate our world-class lineup of Ford vehicles, and we expect this momentum to carry in to a strong 2011," Krieger added.
Ford Philippines excelled beyond just the local sales in 2010 as the Ford Motor Company Philippines (FMCP) plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna also reported an all-time record in vehicle exports, with 9,858 units shipped out of the country--35 percent higher than last year's figure.
FMCP is still the first and only volume exporter of completely built-up vehicles in the country as it has been manufacturing the Ford Focus, Ford Escape and Mazda3 for export to ASEAN markets like Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia since 2002.
FMCP also marked the rollout of its 75,000th unit out of the plant in December 2010, representing a cumulative export value of more than US$960 million.
