Honda has made good on its promise last February that it would reveal the first Earth Dreams Technology engine this year. To debut on the European-market Civic in January 2013 (with the CR-V getting it as well afterward), the 1.6-liter i-DTEC engine "will offer customers an outstanding balance of high fuel economy, low emissions and exciting performance."
As Honda earlier reported, its 1.6-liter diesel engine has an output of 118hp and a torque of 300Nm while emitting just 94g/km of carbon dioxide and achieving 33.37km/L based on Europe's combined city and highway cycle.
Too bad we'll never get the engine in the Philippines as Honda has revealed that it "has been developed exclusively for Europe."
