Apart from being the local distributor of BYD in the Philippines, ACMobility has been an active player in the development of local EV charging infrastructure. The Ayala subsidiary now makes a move to expand its network of chargers beyond Luzon with the activation of 16 EV charging locations in the island province of Cebu.
The launch of the new stations coincided with the BYD Tech Tour at SM Seaside City Cebu from April 25 to 27.

“This expansion brings electrification within reach of more Filipino communities,” said Carla Buencamino, ACMobility’s head of mobility infrastructure. “As Cebu takes the lead in the Visayas region, we are building a reliable and inclusive EV charging network that caters to the increasing demand for sustainable mobility.”

By the end of 2025, the company aims to have established charging stations at over 35 strategic locations in Visayas. The charge points are spread across both urban centers and previously underserved areas, and set up through partnerships with Ayala Malls, GlobalStar, Continuum Mobility Solutions, Prince Stores, City Time Square, and Club Filipino Cebu.

In December 2024, ACMobility began charging customers for the use of its EV chargers through its Evro app. In Visayas, the rates range from P33.5 per kWh for AC charging and P38 per kWh for DC charging.
EV owners of any brand, however, can avail themselves of the ACMobility Membership monthly subscription plans, which range from P1,200 to P4,000 and can save subscribers up to 20% in charging fees. Another option is Charge500, a one-time prepaid offer that provides users the same discount without requiring them to commit to a full subscription.
“ACMobility’s Philippine EV Spine initiative is pivotal in shaping the future of electric mobility across the country,” Buencamino said. “We’re laying the foundation for a strong nationwide network of EV charging stations, ensuring that every Filipino has easy access to the infrastructure needed to embrace electric vehicles with confidence and convenience.”

As for BYD’s expansion in the Visayas, the Chinese brand has plans to open three more showrooms in Cebu Central, Cebu Toledo, and Cebu South. Its current dealerships in the region are BYD Cebu North and locations at Ayala Center Cebu and IL Corso.
“Our expansion in Cebu reflects our commitment to making sustainable mobility real for everyday Filipinos,” said Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines. “And we’re able to do that because of our work with ACMobility to ensure the infrastructure is in place to support every EV we put on the road.”
