Despite being one of the big winners in the EV boom caused by soaring oil prices, ACMobility posted a P57 million loss in the first half of 2026. InsiderPH reports that this is in contrast with BYD’s continued surge in the local market.

Demand for the Chinese brand’s electrified vehicles in 2026 increased ACMobility’s total vehicle sales by 25% year-on-year, with over 25,000 units sold in the first six months of 2026. This has allowed the distributor to capture 10.9% of the Philippine automotive market, making ACMobility the third-largest distributor nationwide. ACMobility’s market share in new energy vehicles now stands at 56.9%, from 80% last year—still a dominant position, but competitors have since begun to launch their own electrified offerings.

ACMobility cites a handful of factors for the loss: “Profitability was affected by higher inventory costs arising from peso depreciation and softer Kia and Isuzu performance.” Isuzu and Kia rank seventh and ninth, respectively, in CAMPI’s H1 sales report.

Kia and Isuzu’s combined sales account for just under 10,000 units—subtracted from ACMobility’s approximately 25,000-unit total, this would mean that BYD sold an estimated 15,000 units. Provided the data is accurate, this would put it third behind Mitsubishi and ahead of Suzuki in the sales charts.

Moving forward, ACMobility has positioned itself to continue investing in EV infrastructure to support its electrified mobility offerings. Its charging network has grown rapidly, now having 542 charging points across 222 locations—doubled from 239 points across 102 locations last year. Ayala Corporation has reportedly provided its mobility arm with a cash injection of P800 million to sustain the rollout of EV charging points and hubs.
