The first half of 2026 has come and gone. In just six months, a global oil crisis disrupted the industry and flipped buyer preferences. Some big names have lagged behind, while newcomers rallied ahead. Now, we have the sales report compiled by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) to tell the Philippine auto industry’s story so far this year, in numbers.
As of June 2026, a total of 204,557 vehicles have been sold in the local market. No doubt the oil crisis had a part to play in this 11.4% year-on-year decrease versus the same period in 2025.
On the other hand, sales of xEVs—hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery EVs—have surged considerably, with 31,381 units sold so far in 2026—a 132.7% increase over 2025’s H1 sales. This figure is still made up mostly of hybrids (17,148 units, or a 54.64% market share), but PHEV popularity has grown significantly. Last year saw just 160 PHEVs sold from January to June, but that number has ballooned to 5,531 this year.

Toyota still leads the top 10 with 100,909 units sold—just under half (49.33%) of every vehicle sold so far this year. It’s Mitsubishi at second again with 36,321 units, followed this time by Suzuki with 9,262 units. Ford and Nissan round out the top five, having moved 7,435 and 6,921 units respectively.

More familiar names occupy spots six through 10. Honda (6,600 units) is ahead of Isuzu (6,323 units) this period, MG (4,232 units) comes in at eighth, and Kia (3,364 units) leapfrogs its sister brand Hyundai (3,150 units). VinFast, however, is very hot on Hyundai’s heels—the Vietnamese brand is just short of tying with the Korean legacy automaker by eight units.

VinFast also ended up on top of the BEV charts as of the June 2026 data, having sold 3,142 electric cars this year—a far cry from just 150 units moved over the same period last year. Tesla is right behind it, followed by Omoda and Jaecoo (which count as a single entity in the report). A resurgent Geely and recent CAMPI inductee GAC round out the BEV top five.
Jetour maintains its number-one ranking in the PHEV chart, with 1,891 units sold in the first half of the year. Geely is a decently close second with 1,270 units. Chery and Omoda and Jaecoo follow as well, with BMW just behind the twin brands.
Toyota leads the HEV ladder by a very wide margin with 11,129 hybrids sold. Ford clinches second with 2,760 units, followed by Honda in third. MG and Kia complete the top five.

CAMPI president Jose Maria ‘Jing’ Atienza remains optimistic for the second half of the year, citing the recent and upcoming releases of new ICE and xEV options previewed at this year’s Philippine International Motor Show. Examples include Toyota’s trio of models, as well as the recently-launched Jaecoo J5 EV. CAMPI also reports that projections for H2 monthly car sales are set to exceed those of last year. That said, the oil crisis shows no signs of letting up. Stay tuned as we cover how the rest of the year goes in the industry.
