The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) has officially welcomed GAC International Philippines into its ranks. Through this membership, it is now more closely connected to the local industry.
The Chinese brand underwent strategic reorganization at the start of 2026, following previous distributor Astara Philippines’ departure from the market. It now operates as a wholly-owned local subsidiary, along with sub-brands Aion and Hyptec under the ‘One GAC’ strategy. GAC claims that this will allow GAC International to maintain a diverse portfolio of offerings in the Philippine market, while also standardizing the sales, service, and support experience for customers.

GAC International senior vice president Steven Wang commented: “Joining CAMPI is a significant honor and a pivotal chapter for our operations. We are eager to leverage this partnership to accelerate our growth in the Philippine market.

“As we continue re-consolidating our presence in the country, this membership underscores our deep-rooted commitment to providing Filipinos with world-class engineering and a comprehensive, future-ready automotive experience.”

GAC previously mentioned that it plans to unveil “six to eight new products” this year. So far, 2026 has seen GAC launch the GS8 HEV, an updated Emzoom, and the Aion UT. GAC also managed to bring back the Emkoo to the market, and the E8 HEV could also be on the way in the coming months. With its new CAMPI membership, it will be interesting to see where the brand’s momentum takes it moving forward.
