BYD Cars Philippines has now confirmed the next model it’s bringing into the Philippine market: the BYD Seagull, which could be the brand’s most affordable offering yet. And you can check it out yourself this weekend at the BYD Tech Tour, happening at TriNoma in Quezon City.
Unlike BYD’s recent launches—the fully-electric Atto 3 and the range-extender-equipped Sealion 6 DM-i—the Seagull isn’t a crossover. This entry-level EV is a five-door hatchback measuring 3,780mm long, 1,715mm wide, and 1,540mm tall. The design is much more playful than that of its stablemates, too, with a more angular design and polygonal shapes.

Distributor ACMobility hasn’t revealed any specs for the local market just yet, but in China, the Seagull is equipped with a single electric motor that puts out 74hp and 135Nm of torque. Range depends on the variant: Units equipped with the 30.08kWh battery pack can run up to 305km on a single charge, while those with the 38.88kWh battery pack get up to 405km.

“We at BYD Cars Philippines are excited to give the public a sneak peek of what we believe will redefine what affordable, fun, and practical electric mobility is in the country,” said managing director Bob Palanca. “For those in the market for their first electric vehicle, the BYD Seagull is the ideal entry into the electric mobility lifestyle.”
Interested buyers can now signify their interest by signing up on the BYD website. Again, the Seagull is on showcase at TriNoma until September 1, 2024, from 10am to 10pm.
