The road to half a million continues as the Philippine automotive industry reached 467,252 units sold in 2024, according to the combined report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). This is up 8.7% from 429,807 units in 2023. If vehicle sales grow at the same rate this year, we will definitely see the 500,000 mark breached in 2025.
Leading the pack is market behemoth Toyota Motor Philippines, with 218,019 units sold (this includes Lexus) for a market share of 46.66%. Firmly entrenched in second place is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, grabbing 19.07% of the market on sales of 89,124 units.
Ford Philippines slots into third place with 27,997 units for a market share of 5.99%. Not far behind is Nissan Philippines with 26,774 units with a 5.73% market share. Rounding out the top five is Suzuki Philippines, selling 20,371 units and holding 4.36% of the market.

In the top five automotive brands, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki have grown faster than the industry, with 9%, 13.7%, and 10.4% annual growth, respectively. Ford’s unit sales shrank the most, contracting by 10.6%. Nissan’s 1.3% decrease may sound negligible, but that’s a difference of 362 vehicles.

In the aggressive Chinese brands, what seems to be the leader is MG Philippines; it occupies the number nine slot with 9,016 units sold. Its archrival, Geely, underwent a change of ownership, and it is no longer a member of CAMPI, thus it no longer shares its sales figures with CAMPI.
On the other hand, MG Philippines is a new member of CAMPI, so this is the first year it is sharing its sales numbers, thus we don't have any comparison to its 2023 sales numbers. But after the decimation of its marketing team, it is unclear how MG Philippines plans to stand out amid the noise in a motoring industry more vibrant than ever.
The star Chinese brand right now is GAC, which posted a 65.1% growth from 2023 with 3,207 units sold, pushing it up to the 12th spot in the sales ranking. But GAC’s brand head, Franz Decloedt, has recently moved to Chery Philippines, which is right behind GAC in 2024 with 2,773 units sold. Interesting times.
The Korean brands both did quite well last year. Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMP) grew by 31.7% on 12,023 unit sales, landing it at the 8th spot. Meanwhile, Kia Philippines unit sales increased by 33%, selling 6,692 vehicles and landing at the 10th spot in the ranking.
As expected, commercial vehicles now make up the bulk of sales, comprising 74.15% of units sold, or 346,482. Passenger cars represent 25.85% of sales, on 120,770 units sold.
