It’s been a good decade so far for BMW Motorrad. Year in and year out, it has consistently been breaking its own sales record. Now, as the 2024 numbers have come in, it appears that the German brand has set a new record yet again.
Last year, BMW Motorrad sold a total of 210,408 bikes. For context, it sold over 202,000 in 2022 and over 209,000 in 2023. Leading the way for the German marque last year were its creme de la creme, the R1300 GS and R1300 GS Adventure, as well as the older R1250 GS and R1250 GSA. These models accounted for more than 68,000 unit sales.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our customers and community around the world for the tremendous trust they have placed in us once again in 2024,” said BMW Motorrad head Markus Flasch. “With the strongest sales result in company history, BMW Motorrad remarkably claims the first place in the global Premium Motorcycle segment.”

Other regions such as USA (17,272 units sold), Brazil (15,267 units sold), and China (13,872 units sold) also posted strong performances. India (8,301 units sold) also accounted for a good chunk of the global total.

“Our market leadership in numerous segments and markets is based on our claim to innovation leadership, our highly attractive product offering as well as the consistent strategic focus on brand strength,” Flasch added. “Based on these success drivers, BMW Motorrad is well-positioned for the future and so I approach the year 2025 with a very positive outlook.”
“Our sales record in 2024 is a definitive receipt for the strong global radiance of BMW Motorrad and our attractive product portfolio,” said BMW Motorrad sales and brand head Stephan Reiff. “We at BMW Motorrad will spare no effort to expand our top position in the global motorcycle premium segment, with numerous new and innovative models and products for our customers in 2025. Again, this year, our customers and fans can look forward to numerous world premieres, highlights, events and sentiment-focused offers, all about motorcycles.”
