Work on EDSA-Ortigas busway footbridge, Ortigas CBD roads expected to worsen traffic

To those who live or work in Ortigas, be prepared: Traffic congestion in the area has worsened, and it could last a while.

Ongoing construction work along different roads in Ortigas Center, the central business district of Pasig City, is scheduled to last until June 30, 2026. Yes, 2026—that wasn’t a typo. Along a portion of EDSA-Ortigas, meanwhile, the construction of a busway footbridge is expected to last until June 10, 2025.

2025-2026 Ortigas Center roadwork: Affected roads

Excavation, open trenching, and manhole and conduit installation along several Ortigas Center roads began on January 27, 2025. Work schedules run daily from 9am to 4pm and from 9pm to 4am, so yes, there’s only a break during morning and evening rush hours.

Here are the affected roads:

  2. ADB Avenue
  3. Julia Vargas Avenue
  4. Sapphire Road
  5. Garnet Road
  6. Opal Road
  7. Ruby Road
  8. F. Ortigas Jr. Road
  9. Exchange Road
  10. Lourdes Drive
  11. Pearl Drive
  12. Amethyst Street
  13. Escriva Drive
  14. Gold Loop
  15. Jade Drive
  16. Topaz Road

According to the advisory published by the Pasig City Public Information Office, the project is being undertaken by Philippine Global Communications and Ortigas Center Association. Again, the scheduled completion isn’t until June 30, 2026.

Construction of the SM Megamall Footbridge, which will connect directly to the Ortigas Station of the EDSA Busway, began on January 23. The affected area of EDSA-Ortigas stretches from Doña Julia Vargas Avenue to Bank Drive, or the block that encompasses Building A of the mall.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), work will be round the clock to meet the target June 10 completion.
