Promoting safe and smart driving practices in the Philippines, Ford Philippines has kicked off its global "Driving Skills for Life" (DSFL) program. Now in its sixth year, the program aims to educate more than 500 licensed driver participants of all ages.
The series of DSFL seminars is conducted in partnership with a number of Ford's dealers. The free training focuses on safe, smart and fuel-efficient driving, as well as handy tips on vehicle maintenance. The program includes classroom training and practical training. It has been customized for the Philippines to depict local driving environment and road conditions.
The American carmaker has been conducting road safety initiatives in the Philippines since 2005. To date, more than 20,000 licensed drivers have participated in the Philippines. Tuason Racing School is continuing to lead the DSFL seminars this year.
The seminars will be held at Ford's Metro Manila dealerships, including Ford Alabang, Ford Commonwealth, Ford Global City, Ford Libis, Ford Makati, Ford Manila and Ford Manila Bay. Seminars will also be conducted in key provincial dealerships of Ford Batangas, Ford Cavite and Ford Pampanga.
"We see it as our responsibility to help raise awareness about safe driving, and encourage drivers to practice safe and smart driving," said Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart. "Our Driving Skills for Life program is an engaging and effective way to get the safety message across and deliver on this responsibility."
Part of the DSFL campaign is a special online component called "I Pledge to Drive Safe." The online campaign encourages participants and anyone interested in the DSFL campaign to make a pledge for road safety and share it through social-networking sites.
To join, one must like the Ford Philippines Facebook page and take the pledge on the campaign tab. The participant then takes the online pledge that requires users to practice at least one of the 10 safe driving techniques listed. Once a pledge has been chosen, the participant is invited to send an e-card to a Facebook friend.
A participant earns one badge after making three successful pledges. The badge entitles the participant to receive an exclusive "I Pledge to Drive Safe" kit, which includes a sticker replica of the badge and a copy of the e-card, via registered mail. The first 500 badge-earners will get the special kit.
So there. Help Ford Philippines get more likes for its Facebook page. Just kidding. Join Ford in this road-safety advocacy. Tell your friends about it.
