Ford Australia has officially announced that the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine will be discontinued in its local market. In place of the outgoing powertrain will be an improved 2.0-liter turbodiesel and the existing 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel.
More Everest and Ranger variants are set to receive the V6, with updated units expected to arrive in Australia by the first half of 2026. Base trims will likely receive the updated 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which Ford claims is more durable and effective due to a new fuel-injection system.

The brand’s six-speed automatic transmission will also be phased out and will be replaced by a more flexible 10-speed gearbox.

Ford Philippines has not confirmed if this shake-up will affect its future units, but it is probable. The Philippines and Australia both source the Everest and Ranger from Ford’s Thailand plant, which could revise its overall production plan to either adjust to the lower demand for the bi-turbo diesels or accommodate newer engines. Or both.

While a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel Everest does sound promising, it may take some time before these new units reach the Philippines. Locally, Ford has just launched a new special edition Ranger Wildtrak that makes use of the outgoing 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine. Additionally, new Everest Wildtrak variants have also been added to the local lineup this year.
