About a two years ago, the Ford Everest Wildtrak made its local debut. At the time, it was only a limited release model and it only came with two-wheel drive. This year, the variant returns and finally available with four-wheel drive.

With that, the reintroduction of this variant means it now sits at the top of the Ford Everest food chain, serving as the top-spec trim level for the popular SUV. Like the last one sold here, the latest version comes with a host of exterior and interior changes to set it apart from the rest of the lineup.

For those curious, the new Everest Wildtrak will still be available in two-wheel drive, but where’s the fun in that?

For the exterior, this variant gets a similar exterior treatment to the Ranger Wildtrak. That means a honeycomb grille and dark grey accents on the bumpers. It also gets dark grey fender flares that are noticeably wider than the ones found in the Titanium models.

The Everest Wildtrak also gets an exclusive wheel design. It’s a machine-faced 20-inch set with a two-tone finish. Another upgrade are the recovery hooks for when things get a little dicey off-road, along with a taller and more functional roof rail. Lastly, there’s a 3D Wildtrak badge over at the back. By the way, Luxe Yellow will be a limited color, so it’s best to get one now before it’s gone.

Inside, there’s orange stitching featured throughout the cabin. Ford calls it Cyber Orange, and it’s seen on the center console, door panels, steering wheel, and armrests. The variant name is also stitched proudly on the backrest of the front seats, as if there wasn’t enough Wildtrak badging on the SUV.

As it’s the top-spec variant, the Everest Wildtrak has a 12-inch center touchscreen, along with Ford’s suite of advanced driver-assist systems that includes adaptive cruise control and more. Ford is rather keen to point out that the two-wheel driver version of the Wildtrak is the only 4x2 variant in the lineup to feature those technologies.

For engines, the two-wheel drive version uses the familiar 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine that makes 168hp and 405Nm paired with a six-speed automatic. For the four-wheel drive, it’s the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo diesel mill that’s good for 210hp and 500Nm. Sorry, folks, the 3.0-liter Powerstroke V6 diesel isn’t an option.
