Big changes are up for Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH). The Korean marque has announced that Jiho Son has been appointed as its new president effective October 15. He succeeds Dongwook Lee.
Son was previously the head of the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) Sales Innovation Group. He also led the India and Asia-Pacific Sales Support Team prior to this. Son succeeds Lee, who served as HMPH president for two years.

Lee served as head honcho when HMPH took over the brand. During his time, Hyundai was reinvigorated in the market, boasting significant sales recovery and launching several new models. These included the Ioniq 5 and 6 EVs, the Stargazer and Stargazer X, the Santa Fe and its hybrid version, and the Tucson Hybrid. The N brand also made its arrival under his watch, and it’s the reason we have cars like the Ioniq 5 N and Elantra N here.
“HMPH expresses its deepest gratitude to Mr. Lee for his dedicated leadership since the brand’s inauguration in June of 2022. Under his guidance, HMPH achieved 32.4% growth thus far into 2024, expanded its dealer network to 34 dealers, and will see further expansion in the coming months,” said HMPH managing director Cecil Capacete. “Moreover, under Mr. Lee’s management, the brand also launched a variety of vehicles and executed several experiential events throughout the past two years. All of which helped establish the brand’s image as a trusted automotive partner in the country.”
