Mazda is marking a milestone with one of its most popular crossovers: the Japanese carmaker recently shared that it had officially sold five million units of the CX-5 worldwide by the end of 2025.
The CX-5 has been sold in more than 100 countries and regions across the globe since its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show way back in 2011. It was already a promising model then, having won the Japan Car of the Year shortly after in 2012. Mazda eclipsed the first million CX-5s produced back in 2015, just before the second generation model premiered at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2016.

The third-generation model eventually debuted in Europe in 2025, which is the model you see pictured above. Note, however, that this has yet to arrive in the Philippines. That said, considering both of the first two generations of the CX-5 were made available here, we’re guessing it won’t be long until the latest iteration finally lands in our market.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all customers and fans around the world who have supported the CX-5,” said Mazda CX-5 program manager Koichiro Yamaguchi. “The all-new CX-5 has been fully changed in eight years, further refining its sporty design and driving dynamics. It offers a spacious cabin where all passengers can enjoy comfort and ease, along with a redesigned Human-Machine Interface.
“Meticulously focused on daily usability, it has evolved into a new-generation SUV that makes driving more comfortable and life itself richer. We will continue to nurture the CX-5 carefully, aiming for it to be cherished for years to come.”
