Last week, multinational auto conglomerate Stellantis and Chinese automaker Dongfeng announced the signing of a new strategic cooperation agreement. This extension of the two companies’ 34-year long partnership will see the production of new Peugeot and Jeep models in Wuhan, China.

Under the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile (DCPA) joint venture, four new vehicles (two branded as Peugeot, another two branded as Jeep) will be produced at its Wuhan plant next year, 2027. These will be meant for both the Chinese market and global exports

Little was shared about the Jeep models, other than confirmation that the pair will be off-road new energy vehicles beginning production next year. The Peugeot models, however, were already previewed earlier this year at Auto China 2026.

The striking design language of the Concept 6 sedan and Concept 8 SUV showcased back in April will serve as the basis of the two Peugeot models starting production in 2027. The concepts highlighted sporty and dynamic bodywork, with the Concept 6 in particular being described by Peugeot as having a “feline silhouette.”

The joint venture represents a combined investment of more than 8 billion Chinese Yuan, or P72.5 billion. Stellantis also highlights that Wuhan is a strategic location for the joint venture, citing that Hubei province (where Wuhan is located in) offers favorable automotive industry policies.

Dongfeng joint-venture exports will already be arriving in the country next year with the Nissan Primera and Frontier Pro confirmed for attendance at the Philippine International Motor Show next month.
