China-made Nissan vehicles are set to debut across global markets in the near future. Through the Dongfeng-Nissan partnership, the Japanese brand has begun exporting the Nissan Frontier Pro—a plug-in hybrid pickup based on the Dongfeng Z9.

Since its initial launch in 2025, the Frontier Pro has remained an exclusive offering for the Chinese market. However, it will soon be sharing showroom space with the familiar Navara and other recognizable nameplates. It also wouldn’t be too surprising if the Frontier Pro title were localized to sell better in other markets.

While Nissan Philippines hasn’t confirmed if it will bring in the Frontier Pro, the company did give us a chance to drive it in China. From the limited seat time we had, the pickup could be a formidable contender against the BYD Shark 6 DMO, the range-extended Changan Hunter, and the relatively new Radar RD6 EM-P.

The local market should have a clearer idea of Nissan’s plans by the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show in June. Before then, we could see the Frontier Pro make its way to other left-hand-drive countries, such as Mexico.

After the pickup makes its way around the world, Nissan China could send the fully electric N7 sedan and NX8 crossover afterwards. All three vehicles are poised to be the best that Dongfeng-Nissan has to offer, and could help fill gaps in the brand’s global roster.

The N7 can stand as an electric alternative to the Sentra, while the NX8 offers X-Trail buyers more urban practicality. However, with the recent launch of the all-electric Juke and the confirmation of a new Xterra, it will be interesting to see how these China-made vehicles mesh with their US- and Japan-built siblings.
