Suzuki Philippines (SPH) continues to maintain a strong sales performance in 2019, registering positive growth in the third quarter as it had done in the previous quarter of the year. For the period of January to September, the company has posted a 19% increase in sales over the same period in 2018.
Still driving Suzuki’s local sales growth are the Ertiga seven-seater MPV, the Swift subcompact hatch, and the Celerio mini-hatchback, all of which account for more than half of the brand’s total units sold so far this year. Of the three, the Ertiga is the runaway top seller, claiming a 34% share of sales. The two hatchback models behind it have registered almost identical figures, with the Swift taking 11.4% and the Celerio making up 11% of the total tally.
“Suzuki’s current standing in the Philippine automotive industry is a significant milestone for the brand,” says Keiichi Suzuki, director and general manager for SPH’s automobile division. “After securing the fourth spot in the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. ranking—the highest rank in the brand’s history—and climbing to the fifth spot in the local automotive industry roster last quarter, we can definitely say that 2019 has been a monumental year for the brand.
“These back-to-back achievements further fuel our drive to deliver on the brand’s promise of quality driving experience with every Suzuki vehicle.”
Aiming to wrap up the year in a strong fashion, SPH has also recently unveiled the 2020 Vitara, the GL+ and GLX variants of which feature exterior and interior updates. It won’t be long now before we find out if this and the all-new Carry—launched in September with a starting price of P509,000—can help the brand sustain its positive sales growth these last three months of 2019.
