While there has been an influx of car brands recently, mostly coming from mainland China, one marque that has been consistently asked about is Tesla. The American carmaker has been making waves with its bold designs, powerful cars, and its aggressive moves to conquer the automotive industry. Its famous leader, Elon Musk, has also been in the headlines for, well, many reasons.
Now the wait is over for those wanting to get their hands, officially, on Tesla products. Tesla Philippines will be officially introduced on November 8, 2024, at the Uptown Mall in Taguig, Metro Manila. Tesla PH has been building its showroom there for a few months. After the media introduction on November 8, the showroom will be open to the public on November 9, 2024.

For months there has been talk of Tesla’s pending arrival. Hiring notices have been seen, but the biggest confirmation was when a tarp was seen covering the showroom being constructed.

There has been no final word on what cars will be available at launch. We suspect we’ll see the Model X and Model S models judging by homologation papers. Also, expect premium pricing for local Teslas, based on what we’ve heard. How this will affect gray market Tesla imports is unknown. And will gray Teslas be able to charge in local Tesla Superchargers once the latter are, presumably, set up? We already have a question for the launch event.

Tesla may be the last car brand with a high name recognition to be launched in our market. The anticipation is high, and there is surely market interest in its products. Teslas are packed with technology and power, features that has earned them many fans. But the challenges to Philippine EV adoption are real and daunting; electric cars are not for all. Still, it will be good to finally see and, hopefully, drive Tesla cars soon. Especially the massive Cybertruck.
