For the second year in a row, Donn Michael Yap outlasted his fellow Cebuanos at the Subaru Palm Challenge Cebu Leg held recently at Ayala Center. The 25-year-old held on to his designated car decal for 12 hours, 55 minutes and 45 seconds--better than his last year's time of 12 hours, 51 minutes and 10 seconds. A virtual assistant for financial advisers, Yap now has another chance to win a brand-new Forester 2.0i-L at the 2015 Subaru Palm Challenge Regional Finals in Singapore after beating 120 other contestants in the Queen City of the South.
Also the best performer among 120 participants further down south, 43-year-old Gilbert Hamo-ay won the Davao leg and will join Yap in Singapore to go after the brand-new vehicle at stake. The furniture carpenter set a new record time for the Davao leg: 13 hours, 7 minutes and 3 seconds.
As winners of their respective legs, Yap and Hamo-ay each received P20,000 in cash and Subaru merchandise. The runners-up of the Cebu and Davao legs didn't go home empty-handed as they also won Subaru items and P10,000 each.
To complete the Philippine contingent for the regional finals, eight competitors who will outlast other participants at the Subaru Palm Challenge's Manila leg on September 5 at Bonifacio High Street will be included. So, if you want that Forester 2.0i-L badly, sign up here.
