The popular Toyota Corolla compact sedan has long surpassed the Volkswagen Beetle as the best-selling car model in history, and now the lead has grown even bigger.
The largest Japanese carmaker showed off the US and European versions of the 11th-generation Corolla to the global media at a dinner held last night in Tokyo, on the eve of the opening day of the biennial motor show here. The occasion was in celebration of the 40-millionth Corolla unit sold around August this year.
A source from Toyota also told us that the Philippines will get the European version (shown in the above photo) of the Corolla--called Altis in the Philippine market--and that it will be launched "very soon." Our guess is January next year.
Are you happy that we're getting the European Corolla? Or would you rather have the more aggressive-looking US version?
