The local automotive industry has been changing, and we’ve known that for a while now. Customer preference has shifted from the usual sedans to crossovers and hybrid offerings.

At the top of the sales chart, however, sits Toyota Motor Philippines. While the rest of the industry shuffles around, it still sits comfortably in first. While that doesn’t come as a surprise, what we’ve found interesting are its best-selling models: It’s still the Vios. Followed by the Avanza in second and the Hilux in third.

Our market still loves trucks and MPVs, so the Avanza and Hilux being in the top three was to be expected. But sedans are a dying breed, so the Vios still at the top is almost shocking. To be exact, Toyota sold 27,811 Vioses, 24,704 Avanzas, and 23,735 Hiluxes in 2025. The margin isn’t that big anymore, but there are still a few thousand units in between, nonetheless.

Toyota also shared the numbers from Lexus Philippines, and it looks like the NX, RX, and LM were its bestsellers. There were 735 NX units, 312 RX units, and 296 LM units sold last year. This shows that on the luxury side of things, the aforementioned hybrids and crossovers are still what most people look for.

Death, taxes, and Toyota’s dominance. And apparently, the Vios’ supremacy as well. Nothing is certain in this world but these things. Perhaps in 2026, there’ll be a change in scenery? Toyota just launched the Ativ Hybrid so it might continue the Vios’ reign, but it also has a number of good models coming up. Lexus, meanwhile, is also gearing up to launch new-look sedans this year. It’ll be a very interesting year for the Japanese carmaker, to say the least.
