Recently, we reported an American automotive blog\'s revelation that Toyota will be discontinuing the sale of the FJ Cruiser in the US next year, prompting us to wonder if this was a global plan since Toyota Motor Philippines had just announced that it is launching the retro-styled SUV in our market in October.
Only one way to find out, of course, and that is to ask TMP itself.
Company vice president for marketing Sherwin Chualim has this to say: \"I checked with our Product Planning Department and no such information has been received from Toyota Motor Corporation. It might be a case for the US market only. Our production source is Japan, which is where other ASEAN countries get this model also.\"
To be clear, even the US gets its FJ Cruiser units from Japan, as far as we know. But yes, maybe Chualim is right in saying that the sales stoppage might be for the US market only.
We guess we will see in the coming months.
