Voltai, a new startup under Aboitiz Power, has recently launched its brand of electric motorcycles and its proprietary battery-swapping network. You heard that right, battery swapping—instead of plugging in and charging, Voltai riders just need to head to a swapping station and replace their depleted pack with one of the available fully charged batteries.
At launch, there are currently 15 swapping sites, located at select Cleanfuel stations and MyTown dormitory buildings. The company advertises that swapping batteries only takes minutes, saving riders time spent refueling or charging.

Voltai and Aboitiz envision this ecosystem particularly for motorcycle fleet operators and owners. Each Voltai AP01 motorcycle unit can be linked to an app, where its battery health and its location can be tracked. Google Maps has also been integrated into Voltai’s online platform for precise tracking and navigation.

AP01 units and batteries are now available on leasing programs for business owners and operators. According to Voltai, incorporating a leasing structure will lower maintenance costs for operators while making it easier for them to grow their own fleet.

Operators can also expect more Voltai stations to open at more Cleanfuel locations around Metro Manila. There are also plans to open stations in and around nearby provinces over the next year.
Voltai co-founder and CEO Fazlur Abdul Rahman summarized the company’s overall thrust as it begins to reach out for new partners: “We are very excited to share Voltai to the Philippine market and provide businesses with fleet requirements a competitive edge through lower costs, higher efficiency, and reduced emissions without the need to shoulder heavy upfront costs.”
