Warning: If you don’t want to dampen your spirits today with photos and footage of an Acura NSX burning down, look away.
If you were following the news yesterday, Angie Mead King’s NSX went viral for the wrong reasons. Her new toy supposedly just came out of the shop, but it unfortunately caught fire while King was driving on the South Luzon Expressway. As it turned out, though, she was actually able to film everything—even the exact moment the fire started.

Footage of Angie Mead King’ Acura NSX catching fire:
King shared on social media the footage of her driving her NSX just moments before the incident happened. She was actually raving a bit about her car, and ironically, she was just saying how fun it was to drive and how it could even replace some of her other cars.
She was sharing her plans for future upgrades as well, and right as she appeared to have stepped on the throttle, that was when smoke started to come out behind the car. To those who aren’t familiar, the NSX is a rear mid-engined car.
When the flames finally burst, King immediately recognized the situation but didn’t panic. Instead, she was able to safely pull over to the shoulder of the expressway and get herself (and everyone else on the road) out of harm’s way. It’s just a bonus at this point that she was able to retrieve the footage to share it with all of us.

King’s wife, Joey Mead King, also commented on Instagram: “When the vlog captures the exact moment the NSX lights up..is pure real-life situation. Still handled calmly Angie style..” We’re sure that if Angie hadn’t been that composed, a lot of worse things could’ve happened. She and other road users could’ve been seriously hurt. Huge props to her for this, as well as to the people who helped her after the fact.
We haven’t gotten in touch with her yet to find out what exactly happened—we’ll wait for the dust to settle first—but let this be a reminder to everyone to be careful out there. We can only hope to be as calm as King was when we find ourselves in a similar situation. Drive safe out there, guys.
