Creating safer streets for all road users—both motorists and pedestrians alike—goes beyond just paving highways and widening sidewalks for cars and people. Illuminating key areas is also just as important when it comes to safety.
That’s something we’ve seen before in Manila City, and it’s what we’re seeing from the local government unit once again. New street lights were installed in some parts of the city earlier this week, and the LGU has shared a few photos on social media.

The new lights were installed around the boundary of Makati City on Zobel Roxas, San Andres, Quirino Avenue, Angel Linao, Pedro Gil, Plaza Dilao, and Plaza Azul towards West Zamora. The drone photos also show that the roads directly underneath the Skyway Stage 3 are now also well-lit.

This project was carried out with the help of donations from San Miguel Corporation, the operator of the aforementioned elevated tollway. A total of 1,162 LED tunnel lights have been installed.
You may recall that about a couple of years ago, the Lagusnilad underpass in Manila City was also renovated, and the new street lights proved beneficial for motorists who regularly drive through the busy underpass.
