MMDA: Expect lane closures at 19 intersections in Metro Manila

Expect heavier-than-usual traffic at certain areas around Metro Manila until the end of the month, as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has just announced that it will be conducting roadwork over the next few days.

The MMDA in its latest statement confirmed that there will be imminent lane closures at 19 intersections in the metro. This will be done to make way for the agency’s traffic signalization project. The agency said there will also be new LED lights installed at the covered intersections.

There are separate daytime and nighttime schedules for certain intersections, and different activities will be conducted at each one. You can refer to the list below for a more detailed look:

Daytime activities (9am to 5pm)

Excavation and restoration on sidewalks and installation of footings and handholes

  • Deparo-Susano and Zapote-Camarin intersections in Caloocan City, January 25 to 31

Lantern installation

  • Xavierville Avenue–E. Abada Street intersection in Quezon City, January 27

  • Blumentritt–Santo Tomas intersection in Manila City, January 28

Signal cable installation

  • M. Almeda–C. Almeda intersection in Pateros, January 29

Commuters and pedestrians also have to take note of a few things, as the MMDA will conduct corrective maintenance of street lights on sidewalks in certain areas.
