That’s insane

Trash. That’s one of the biggest reasons it keeps flooding in Metro Manila. As you may have seen in the photos featuring G. Araneta Avenue, it’s clear that we are far from solving our littering problems here in the Philippines.

But that’s not even the worst part. What’s even more surprising is the type of debris that agencies like the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority have been picking up as they continuously try to clear the waterways to address the floods. Any guesses on what the MMDA has found?

MMDA chairman Atty. Don Artes shared yesterday in a press briefing how the agency has gathered all sorts of trash clogging not just the waterways but the pumping stations that are supposedly helping get rid of the floods around the metro.

MMDA on clearing debris blocking pumping stations:

Seriously, guys? These government agencies will continue to put the work in to address the never-ending floods, but if we don’t do our part as responsible citizens, we won’t see any progress in the foreseeable future.

But damn...a sofa? And a refrigerator? Seriously? Is it really that hard?
