If you thought the Land Transportation Office was only keeping an eye on accidents and major traffic violations, you thought wrong. The agency has now summoned a motorist who failed to give way to pedestrians crossing a designated pedestrian lane. Yikes.

The motorist was caught on camera, and the video was sent to the LTO. The driver could be facing right-of-way violations and could be deemed an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle. According to the agency, the motorist in question could be facing suspension or even revocation of his driver’s license.

In the meantime, the LTO has issued a 90-day suspension on the motorist’s driver’s license and placed his vehicle under alarm.

Now, for those of you saying that this seems like an overreaction or that the LTO went overboard with the punishment, then you’re missing the point. This should be a reminder to all motorists that pedestrians have priority on designated crossings. In case you need more information, you can check out this other article.
