Cash lanes are back on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), but that doesn’t mean the shift to fully-cashless tollways won’t push through. The reactivation of cash lanes is only an “interim measure,” says NLEX Corporation, as it makes operational changes to improve traffic flow on the thoroughfare during the holidays and the ongoing shift to RFID systems.
These operational changes, which we wrote about in detail yesterday, include relocating RFID installation from toll plazas. Instead, motorists applying for Easytrip tags must head to the following installation sites, most of which are located just before or right after entering the expressway. Note that they have different operating hours and don’t always cater to all classes of vehicles.

If you already have an Easytrip tag on your vehicle, you may pass through the dedicated RFID lanes as you enter or exit the expressway, but note that some smaller toll plazas will have a mixed cash/RFID lane. For those wanting to reload their Easytrip accounts, reloading services have been removed from NLEX tollbooths, too, except at the Balintawak and Bocaue toll plazas. If possible, load up your Easytrip account at least 24 hours before your journey.
