The security bollards around Ninoy Aquino International Airport are currently being inspected and audited by New NAIA Infrastructure, following the crash that took the lives of two airport visitors.
NNIC has also committed to redesigning the drop-off areas at NAIA Terminals 1 and 2 to improve overall safety along the curbside. This means that the current diagonal unloading areas will likely be modified in the near future. NNIC has yet to comment on what the drop-off areas will look like, or how the new layout will affect the flow of traffic around the airport.

According to the NNIC’s statement, the bollard audit should reveal where reinforcements are needed—deeper foundations or structural upgrades, for example. The bollards that are presently mounted were installed in 2019, before NNIC took over airport operations and renovations.
Shortly after the crash occurred, the NNIC committed to providing support and financial assistance to those affected by the accident. Along with the two fatalities, four individuals were injured.
The driver of the crashed vehicle was issued a show cause order by the Land Transportation Office. As per the SCO, the driver will need to appear before the LTO on May 8, 2025, and explain why he should not be charged for Reckless Driving.
