The downward movement of diesel prices has come to a close. The cost of fuel will increase this week, as momentum began to shift with the slight hike in last week’s gasoline prices.
For May 5 to 11, 2026, gasoline will see a price increase of P2.21 per liter, with diesel seeing an additional adjustment of P2.66 per liter. Kerosene, however, will go down with a rollback of P3.53 per liter.

These prices are being adopted by most oil players, but some companies may apply slightly different movements. These numbers alone will not undo the multiple weeks of consecutive rollbacks just yet, but Filipino motorists have understandably shown concern that this may mark a return to weekly price leaps.

Diesel slid by almost P60.00 during the consecutive rollback weeks, but even at its lowest, its pump price was still almost double what it was before the war in the Middle East broke out.
The coming week will mark two months since the start of the fuel crisis. The automotive market has responded by showing rapidly growing interest in electrification, either in full or in part. VinFast in particular boomed in popularity, topping the battery electric vehicle sales charts in no small part due to their several programs and deals to facilitate electric vehicle ownership.
Several automakers have confirmed attendance in this year’s Philippine International Motor Show, and exhibitors will likely place great focus on electrification. We first saw this trend at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The event heavily focused on electrified vehicles as it reported record-breaking attendance numbers. That goes to show that Filipinos are still looking to cut their fuel consumption.
