In the midst of authorities looking into fuel industry players who might be exploiting the ongoing energy crisis, Petron president and CEO Ramon S. Ang has issued a statement promising his company “will not take advantage” of the situation.
“Hindi kami kikita nang higit pa sa normal,” Ang said. “I’m willing to lower the income. Kung gusto ng gobyerno, pwede nga ng gobyerno bilhin yung Petron sa’kin kung sa tingin nila mas magaling sila magpatakbo.”

“So in short, you have my 100% cooperation na tulungan yung mga kababayan natin,” said Ang. How this will potentially affect the fuel prices and, ultimately, the impact for end-users remain to be seen, but what’s important here is that a major industry player has expressed its intentions to cooperate to come up with what’s best for the public.

This, however, isn’t the first time RSA has mentioned anything about selling Petron. Back in 2021, the business tycoon already floated the idea, although then House Deputy Majority Leader Eduardo Gullas declined the offer.
This time, the government has yet to issue a response to Ang’s statements. We’ll keep you posted if and when that happens. More as we have them.
