TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Porsche launches diesel-fueled Panamera

Another day, another new Porsche variant. At least that seems to be the case as the German carmaker has just launched a diesel-fueled version of the Panamera a few days after in launched the 911 GT3 RS 4.0.

Powering the Porsche Panamera Diesel is a 3.0-liter V6 engine that puts out a respectable 250hp and 550Nm of torque. Paired with the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the six-cylinder turbo diesel propels Porsche's new Gran Turismo from a standing start to 100kph in just 6.8 seconds before it attains a top speed of 242kph.

With a fuel consumption of just 6.3 liters for every 100 kilometers on its optional low-friction tires, Porsche claims the Panamera Diesel is capable of going over 1,200 kilometers on its 80-liter fuel tank, supposedly making it capable of going from Berlin to Bologna without refueling. Even with standard tires, the new Panamera Diesel's 6.5l/100km fuel consumption is still very low.

The Panamera Diesel employs state-of-the-art diesel technology like common rail direct injection through piezo valves at a pressure of 2000 bar, electrically controlled variable geometry turbochargers and emission control through controlled exhaust gas recirculation, oxidation catalyst and particle filter. The car also comes equipped with an auto start/stop function which contributes to the Panamera Diesel's low 172g/km carbon dioxide emission.

Further contributing to the Panamera Diesel's Gran Turismo qualities is the optional adaptive air suspension in place of the standard steel spring suspension as this provides for an even wider range of suspension settings to extend the car's driving qualities even further.

Delivery of the Panamera Diesel begins in August. Are you ready to place your order?
