Porsche never seems to run out of ideas for new variants for the ubiquitous 911 nameplate as it just announced plans to unveil the fourth-edition 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show.
Low-slung, sporty and limited to just 356 units, the all-new 911 Speedster combines the classic features of the previous-generation models with the performance figures of today’s 911s.
In true Speedster tradition, the two-seater sports car has a 60-millimeter lower and more steeply-raked windshield, a sporty-looking and flat-contoured manual engine cover, a 44mm wider rear bodywork, and a double-bubble hardcover for the soft top that defines the car’s profile.
Powering the 911 Speedster is a 3.8-liter flat-six engine that pushes out 408hp, 23hp more than the 911 Carrera S, while a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe transmits all that power to the rear wheels. Helping keep the car in control are the Porsche Active Suspension Management and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake systems.
As a limited edition model, the 911 Speedster is fitted with almost all the optional equipment of the 911 series. Adding to the car’s exclusive appeal is its hand-finished interior executed in black smooth-finish leather that come with exterior color painted details exclusive to the Speedster like the checkerboard pattern strip in the center section of the adaptive sports seats and the leather side bolsters.
Available in Pure Blue, which was developed exclusively for the 911 Speedster, and in Carrara White, the exterior’s colors provide contrast to the tinted front lights, black headlight rings, black windscreen surround, and other black decorative designs. Completing the 911 Speedster’s look are the special front apron, sideskirts and a distinct rear apron.
The 911 Speedster, which will be unveiled along with the 911 Carrera GTS in Paris, is priced at €201,682 (more than P11.6 million) and is due to go on sale in December.
