Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) premier one-make-race series is back for its 10th iteration this year, and from here on in it’ll be called something new: the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup.

The 2024 TGR Philippine Cup kicks off this weekend, July 13 for the first leg at the Clark International Speedway. The following race weekends will be on September 28 and November 9 at the same venue.

There will be new race formats this year. The Sprint Race (previously known as the Circuit Championship) features a 12-lap, 30-minute format, while the Endurance Race (previously called the Grand Prix) is a 1.5-hour circuit format. The Autocross Challenge will return at a later date, and TGR Philippines will be opening the slalom race to more drivers and audiences in the future—there’ll be a separate announcement soon.

There will also be new faces on the track this year, and they’ll be joined by returning racers in the three different classes. Representing the TGR Philippines team in the Sporting Class is Ryan Agoncillo and in the Super Sporting Class is Troy Montero. Celebrities and influencers Reph Bangsil and Lexi Mendiola, sim-racer Russel Reyes, and media racers Pablo Salapantan, Jose Altoveros, Jamil Lacuna, and John Rey San Diego will also be joining this year’s festivities.

Toyota has also shared that a ‘surprise driver’ will be taking on the challenge, so that’s one more thing to look out for.

Apart from the races, there will be a driving exhibition by professional drivers and a TGR GT Cup sim-racing experience booth at CIS this weekend. There will also be freebies and prizes up for grabs and GR merch for sale, and TMP will also offer test drives of GR road cars on display at the event.

“In 2014, TMP launched its motorsports program dedicated to producing high-performance cars, activating exciting motorsports events, and creating unique experiences for fans,” shared TMP first vice president for vehicle sales operations Danny Cruz. “Our hope for this new chapter of Toyota motorsports in the Philippines is to elevate the experience even further for fans by providing them with more ways to enjoy Toyota Gazoo Racing.”
