Steve McQueen has been dead for 30 years and yet he is still the embodiment of "cool," particularly for those who are into cars. So if you'd like some of his "coolness" to rub off on you, then maybe you should place a bid on one of his vehicles.
In addition to its starring role in the film, the Porsche 911S was used by McQueen as his personal transport during the movie's production before later adding it to his own stable of luxury cars that, over the years, included a Jaguar XK-SS, Ferraris and Porsches.
Built to the highest specifications in 1970, the Slate Gray 911 S comes complete with air conditioning and a full complement of factory options.
"There is no more iconic racing film than Le Mans and no more charismatic owner of many of the world's great sports cars than Steve McQueen," said Rob Myers, chairman and founder of RM Auctions. "Combining a well-documented history with an exciting celebrity and screen provenance, it will make for a valuable addition to any notable car collection."
Steve McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S will go up for bidding at RM Auctions' annual Monterey, California sale from August 19 to 20.
