Earlier this month, we reported that a new McLaren-branded smartphone, designed by the carmaker in collaboration with OnePlus, was set to be launched soon. Now, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition has been unveiled, and its specs are as remarkable as that of any McLaren supercar.
We already told you that the gadget packs a whopping 10GB of RAM, which is sort of like the mobile equivalent of a twin-turbo V8. McLaren has now revealed that the phone also gets Warp Charge 30, OnePlus’s new charging standard. New integrated circuits and an astute power-management software mean that the phone can gain a day’s worth of power in just 20 minutes. In other words, the same amount of time it takes to move a few inches on EDSA.
Naturally, the phone’s design incorporates elements derived from McLaren’s famous cars, like the carbon-fiber pattern on the back and the Papaya Orange accent that runs along the side. In the box, you get a carbon-fiber McLaren Speedmark logo, plus a book that details the history of the two companies behind the smartphone.
How much for all this high-speed tech? Asking price is £649 (P42,800). Sales in Western Europe and North America will start this month, with other regions to follow. Interested?
