For the 15th staging of the Toyota Classics concert series, Toyota Motor Philippines is bringing in "one of the most respected ensembles in Europe," the Vienna Chamber Orchestra (VCO).
Also known as the Wiener KammerOrchester, Austria's leading chamber ensemble orchestra has continuously appeared with the Arnold Schoernberg Choir, the Wiener Singakademie, the Vienna Chamber Choir and the Hamburg Ballet. With the group's authentic Viennese sound, honed and aged since 1946 and earning for them invitations to appear in over 70 countries all over the world, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra averages around 100 concerts per year with Manila finally being added to this year's itinerary.
Aside from pieces by Beethoven and Vivaldi, the orchestra will also be playing music from Rodger and Hammerstein's Sound of Music, featuring the Philippines' own Audie Gemora and Joanna Ampil. Leading them as conductor is Joji Hattori, a world-renowned music director, and joining them is Soichi Muraji, considered one of the most prominent classical guitarists today.
The 15th edition of the Toyota Classics will be held on November 13, 7pm, at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The show's proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the Toyota-City of Santa Rosa (Gawad Kalinga Village Project).
