Toyota may have had a dismal return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012 after its two entries retired from the endurance race, but that hasn't stopped the Japanese carmaker from competing again in the 2013 race.
Using the same TS030 Hybrid car that raced last year, Toyota will put in it a revised version of the Toyota Racing super capacitor-based hybrid system, which, the carmaker claims, delivers 300hp of boost on top of the 530hp generated by its 3.4-liter, normally aspirated V8 gasoline engine.
In addition, ahead of the new regulations that will be enforced in 2014, Toyota has also has fine-tuned the powertrain, the chassis and the aerodynamics "to improve power, efficiency, management of component usage, and reliability."
For both Le Mans and the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship season, Toyota will field Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima in the #7 car, while the #8 car will be driven by Anthony Davidson, Stephane Sarrazin and Sebastien Buemi.
