P3 million is a lot of money, even for a car. In reality all you need to get around is a Toyota Innova, which tops out at P1,789,000 for the 2.8L V trim. Or if that sounds like an advertorial, you can opt for any of the fine MPVs in the P1.2-million range like the Hyundai Stargazer, Honda BR-V or Mitsubishi Xpander.

Three million bucks can go a long way. At that range you’re already reaching the entry-level offerings of premium brands like Lexus or Mercedes-Benz. Or you can easily buy two mass market offerings so that you have a “coding” car.

Car models in the P3-million range are for those who worked hard for their rewards, for those who’ve built something or created something important. And they deserve the extra comfort, luxury, or sportiness that vehicles in this price bracket deliver.

So here’s our pick of P3 million vehicles. Of course none of them cost exactly P3 million, but they’re definitely in the ballpark.

1. Mazda CX-60 (P2,790,000 - P2,890,000)

Mazda’s new crossover stuns with diesel or gasoline inline-6 engines and RWD. The cabins are sublime and the drive promises to be true to the brand’s sporty DNA.

2. Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (P2,622,000)

This is arguably one of the best chassis Toyota has in its lineup now. Big and roomy inside, but with a ride that shrinks the more you drive it. We miss the base gasoline variant, TBH.

3. Kia Carnival (P2,640,000 - P3,088,000)

Kia stakes its claim in the premium van segment with its stylish Carnival. Fans of K-dramas might recognize its sleek shape from their favorite shows. The Carnival, with a good driver behind the wheel, is something that can help passengers cope with the bad traffic.

Lexus UX

4. Lexus UX (P3,058,000 - P3,798,000)

This is what we mean by P3 million being enough to enter the premium leagues. We’ve tested the base UX, and it is more than luxurious enough for most. The fit and finish, the A/C, the materials—chef’s kiss.

Mini Cooper

5. Mini Cooper hatchback (P2,650,000 - P3,980,000)

The price range varies by as much as a compact sedan, but all Minis are stylish, fun, and sporty. Pick one that matches your budget and enjoy.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Long Range 2WD 2023

6. Hyundai Ioniq 5 (P3,068,000)

It goes above budget by a new iPhone, but you’re getting  arguably the coolest electric vehicle sold in the country today. Hyundai really raised the bar when it comes to unorthodox yet beautiful designs. And of course that electric powertrain will get you around quickly and quietly.

Suzuki Jimny

7. Two Suzuki Jimnys (P1,258,000 - P1,320,000 x 2)

Assuming you’re not gouged by opportunustic dealers, you can get two Jimnys under P3 million—in different colors and for different coding days. The Jimny has been in demand since the day it was on sale, and shows no signs of slowing down. Its boxy design and off-road capability have made it a darling of motorists everywhere.
