Time to get your geek on: BMW has published an online catalog with info and pictures of no fewer than 424 different models from its history of carmaking.
From a load of prewar stuff to the BMW 507 and the three-wheeling BMW F 76 (a glorified wheelbarrow, if ever there was one), to every generation of the 5-Series, each model has been categorized chronologically, by body type and series. Car enthusiasts and content creators can mooch about, search specifically for a particular model, or find themselves down a BMW researching rabbit hole and miss lunch.

Expanding the image gives a couple of paragraphs of top-line factoids, and if you click the model name link, it takes you to a deeper dive and all the relevant engine specs. For classic owners, links to spare parts and exploded engineering maps look mighty handy.

The collection for Mini heritage and BMW's motorbikes has already been archived in the same way, meaning the whole thing becomes an online museum-style treasure trove that can be added to in the future. Mmm, nerdy.

“By making our complete historical model overviews available online, we meet a high external demand for historical product information that has existed for many years and maximises customer satisfaction with another digital tool,” said Katrin Gfrörer, head of BMW Group archives.
Obviously, it’s also perfect for prepping an automotive-themed quiz night, too. Everyone ready for round one?
