The interior is one of the most plush BYD has built yet. There’s an abundance of leather and soft-touch materials all around, and there’s plenty of room to fit seven passengers even with captain seats in the back.

The driver’s seat features eight-way power adjustment, while the passenger, four-way adjustment. The second-row seats also have four-way adjustability, but those have a bunch of extra adjustments that can be controlled via the buttons on the armrest. The third-row seats can also be stowed into a large space under the floor to enable a flat compartment and allow easier hauling of cargo.
Engine and specs of the 2026 BYD eMax 9 DM-i

Powering the all-new eMax 9 is BYD’s Super DM-i powertrain that consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged generator that helps power the 267hp, 315Nm front-mounted electric motor. Battery capacity depends on the variant—the smaller Advanced has a 20.4kWh battery while the Premium gets a 36.6kWh battery. The former promises 945km of range on a single tank and charge, while the latter can do up to 1,000km.
AC and DC charging are both available for both variants, and vehicle-to-load capabilities are also there. A V2L adapter and a 7kW wall-mounted charge also come as standard. The eMax 9 DM-i has front MacPherson struts and a rear four-link independent suspension. Brakes are discs all around.
Extra features of the 2026 BYD eMax 9 DM-i

The all-new BYD eMax 9 DM-i is equipped with an abundance of tech and amenities. For starters, the Premium trim gets the full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, which includes features like front-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, rear-collision warning with rear cross-traffic alert and braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure assist, and emergency lane-keeping assist. The 360-degree-view camera is standard, along with six parking sensors.
Seat heating and ventilation are available around the cabin. Massage functions are also available with the captain seats. The seats can also be reorganized with a single press of a button or using voice command, so you can turn the cabin into one large bed, for example. A drink cooler has also been fitted under the center armrest, and foldable tables are available for second-row passengers.
There’s a 15.6-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and it can be paired with either an eight- or twelve-speaker setup. A number of USB-C and A charging ports, as well as wireless charging pads, are available inside the vehicle.
