We owe a lot to the Nordic (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) and Baltic (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) countries: They brought us Ikea, Thor, ABBA, and—last but not least—Volvo.

In the Philippines, NordCham Philippines promotes and facilitates trade, industry, and investment between the countries and ours, as well as organize traditional Nordic social events. And on September 14, 2019, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila and NordCham Philippines will bring its Crayfish Party back.

What’s crayfish, you ask? Also known as crawfish or freshwater lobster, it’s bigger than shrimp and smaller than lobster, and it’s not common in our part of the world. This freshwater crustacean is best-enjoyed with beer or schnapps.

The crayfish party tradition became popular in Scandinavia as a summer ender. And for the price of P3,900 per person or P72,000 per table that can fit 20 people, you can party like a Viking at Sofitel’s Crayfish Party. The Nordic feast will also include spreads with herring and potatoes, Swedish meatballs, sausages and sauerkraut, and salmon fillets.

The ticket sales will go to the Chosen Children Village, a foundation that provides home and care facility for physically and mentally challenged children.

Volvo Cars Philippines will also display one of its plug-in hybrids during the event. Another reason to drive down to the Viking party!
